September 11 Remembered
New York City, now having been spared by hurricane Irene will go forward with the 10 year dedication of the Memorial for the victims and survivors of the 911 tragedy . We will someday all of us be gone and this is a fabulous “mausoleum” for these people who suffered so much. I do not mean to make light of such a serious topic but I believe it was the best solution to a horrible situation. I have thought about this subject so mny times: what would I do if someone I loved died and was lost without a trace that day.
I certainly wouldn’t want a bulldozer to dig there and desecrate any remains.. I know the medical examiner and fire department were carrying out any and all remains and that they had a ceremony with with relatives of the lost attending at the ground breaking.Nevertheless this will never replace a loved one or reconcile the bereaved. We can only hope that the souls of the victims will be dancing in heaven on that day of the 10 Year Anniversary and Dedication.
P.S.
I have been watching PBs and their telling of the 911 story is quite good if you get a chance go the www.pbs.org. Good reporting.
