First Day of a New Month

First day of a new month….

So it is August amd half the summer is gone. Well it hasn’t been stellar so what the hell.

Last month I turned another year older(and closer to the grave) ,was rejected approximately five times career wise and have never been so utterly poor.

I tell mysel: “Cheer up, you only have another 30 years of this, so stop worrying.”

I began another search for my niece.

She was adopted and we cannot locate her. The adoption records are sealed in New York. She was born on December 20,1954 in Brooklyn, N.Y. at the (now closed) Brooklyn Jewish hospital. The agency that placed her was Louise Wise Agency and the contact was my uncles psychiatrist who’s name I do not recall. Distraught over the separation my sister could not come to terms with her loss and after many years of analysis she took her own life in 1976.During that time she tried to find the child but the records were sealed and my mother told her to leave well enough alone. If it had not been for her husband who threatened her if the birth became known to his mother and my mother afraid of my father if he knew, none of this would have happened and my sister would have raised the girl with the help of our family. Her marriage had been annulled before she became pregnant but in 1954 people hid things like this. Very Sad. Her original birth certificate name was Beth Sandy Lewis. We heard she was adopted by a doctor’s family on Long Island possibly living around  Cedarhurst .I hope to find her and share photos, stories and letters with my niece.
